We are overdue for this one except for you sinophobics. (look it up).
On Thursday 9 Jurassic members on 8 bikes traveled to Salmon Arm for lunch at the Jade Buffet. The Jade is one of our original destinations when the group was started. And as usual, Jin our hostesses gave us a warm greeting and had everything set up for us even though we were 35 minutes early. She said "I like it when you come here, you make me laugh." That was an Asian reference, not a Canadian one we think.

On Thursday, 10 Jurassic riders travelled to Midway for lunch at the Mile Zero Diner. The service and food has always been excellent here and Thursday was no different. Dave H rode his Spyder for the first time and the bright yellow colour was easy to find in the group.
"One of our riders has a new grandchild in the house. Wonderful! There is nothing like the pitter-patter of little feet around the house, as long as your mother-in-law isn't a pygmy."

On Thursday Aug. 29 12 members on 11 bikes traveled to Grindrod for lunch at the Riverfront Pub. The food and service were OK and the company was great. Despite 2 phone calls and one email on Wednesday they were not prepared for us. Turns out they don't check their voice mail or emails despite the website specifically asking that groups over 8 book ahead! As usual, the Jurassic riders adapted and everything went fine.
"Dave has ordered patches for some of our riders. For the Harley bikers the patch will say "Burgman on Viagra" for the Burgman riders the patch will say Harley on Valium" :>)

On Thursday, 10 Jurassic riders traveled to Keremeos for lunch at the K Ranch Cafe. The food and service was excellent. The roads, Green Lake, Yellow Lake, Eastside and Green Mt. offer some of the best rides in the valley. New member Bernie on his Harley joined us for his first ride. 4 Burgmans and 3 Harleys, what can I say!

MOTORCYCLE RACING!
Information was that on Monday Area 27 was staging a motorcycle racing event. Come on your bike, in your car or whatever! If you are unfamiliar with the location easiest way is to see the map on their website.
Yesterday, six Jurassic riders on bikes and in cars gathered at Area 27 and watched the motorcycles races. Much more fun than watching the cars racing around. Quite amazing how many bikes were there and the quality of the riders. A popular event as the whole front row of the viewing area was filled with spectators in cars, bikes and campers.

On Thursday, 9 Jurassic Riders on 7 bikes traveled to Salmon Arm via Carrs Landing and Otter Lake Rd. for lunch at Don Cherry's Bar and Grill located in the Prestige Inn. The steak daily special was excellent. The weather finally cooperated and new pavement on Salmon River Rd from town to Hwy 97 made for an excellent day. Lots of laughs at lunch as usual. Dave H is picking up a Spyder today. Congratulations. August 1st, 2019
And now for something completely different (circa Monty Python). Northern riders muster at Westside McDonalds for departure at 9:30 AM and travelling first to Area 27 which is staging a charity event and open house. We can spend a few minutes at the lookout watching the event. For those of you are unfamiliar with Area 27 click here. Bring lots of money and take your bike around the track! We will then backtrack to the Frog Café in Kaleden for lunch and home. This will be a shorter day in the heat. Southern riders can meet the northern group at approximately 11 AM at the Area 27 lookout. Follow-up: Ten Jurassic bikers traveled to the Area 27 race track and watched the action from the parking area which provides a very good view of the activities. Area 27 is a Grand Prix style race track designed by Jacque Villeneuve. For more details see the website (link above). This was followed by lunch at the Frog Café in Kaleden. July 25th, 2019
Riders headed for the cooler high country to escape the heat on a ride we have had fun with on the past. Northern riders mustered at the Costco Chevron for departure at 9:30 AM and travelled to Midway Mile Zero Restaurant for lunch. Southern riders can mustered at Osoyoos Tourist Information Centre at 11 AM and met the rest of the team in Midway. Eleven Jurassic riders on 9 bikes converged, some from the east and some from the south, at the Mile 0 Restaurant in Midway for lunch. The weather was excellent and the company better. On the way home the group was joined by two large deer who crossed mid-pack. Cool heads and expert bike control resulted in no contact with deer or humans and everyone enjoyed a nervous laugh at the next muster point. June 13th, 2019 Ride to Salmon Arm for lunch at the Jade Buffet (Chinese) restaurant. Southern riders mustered at the Costco Chevron in Kelowna at 9:30 AM and travelled to Salmon Arm. Northern riders mustered at Winfield North Tim Horton's at approximately 9:45 AM and the Swan Lake RV Park in Vernon at approx. 10:30 AM. Follow-up: Twelve Jurassic members on 10 bikes traveled to Salmon Arm for lunch at the Jade Buffet. It has not changed; still with good Chinese food and Jin, our server looked after us again. We must have made an impression because she remembered us from last year. Go figure. We also welcomed another new member, Doug G. |

Northern riders mustered at West Kelowna McDonald's ready for departure at 9 AM for travel to Princeton and lunch at the Copper Pit Restaurant. Ride was via Green Mt Road, to Keremeos and Old Hedley Road. Return route was via Highway 5A to Aspen Grove and the Connector. Southern riders mustered at the Super Save Gas station at Hwy 97 and Green Mt. Road at approximately 9:40 AM.
Twelve riders traveled to Princeton for lunch at the Copper Pit Restaurant. The food and service were excellent. Many diners ordered the special, pulled pork poutine. How Canadian can you get. The weather was good with only a hint of rain once. Paul C was surprised with a birthday celebration including free cake which he shared with no one. Two close calls with deer, one by 2 feet and the other by 2 inches! All was good. Another fine ride with the best people.

On Thursday 11 members on 10 bikes rode to Osoyoos for lunch at the Sage Bar. As usual, the food was excellent and the staff very accommodating.
This was the best day for riding we have had this year. Great riding going out via Black Sage road and coming back on Fairview, etc. and also, as usual, the best company.
October 25th
Seems like some folks still want to ride so for those interested meet at Westside McDonalds for a 09:30 AM departure and travelling to the Sage Pub in Osoyoos for lunch.
Southern riders can muster at the Skaha Lake marina at 10:30 AM and at the Osoyoos Info Centre at approx. 11:40 AM.
Watch for an update early Thursday AM if there is a change.
October 18th
Every fours years during the last three weeks of October the salmon come home to roost (mixed metaphor) in the Adams River near Sorrento, BC. For those who have been there, they know it is quite a sight. Lots of information can be found on the web page: https://www.salmonsociety.com/
We are planning a ride to the Adams River for this event. Weather will be chilly in the morning but warming up nicely during the day. As this is a destination ride we will be travelling the quickest way to the run via the main highways. There is usually a concession at the event so we may be able to eat there.

Thirteen Jurassic members on twelve bikes rode to Osoyoos for lunch at the Sage Pub. As usual the food was good as well as the company. We welcomed a new biker Leta S. who joined us at the pub. The photo below is the group mustering at the Skaha Lake Marina enroute to Osoyoos.

The weather turn out to be pretty good, mostly sunny and no rain. Twelve riders on 10 bikes rode to Midway for lunch at "Mile Zero". Incredibly, 4 southern riders from Osoyoos arrived at the same time as 6 bikes from Kelowna arrived at Rock Creek. This was the second time it happened this year!
Riders had the main dining room all to themselves enjoying good food and good company. All in all a great ride.
